Notes about or in patient treatment to Siddha / Ayurvedic therapy

The Outpatient unit is situated in the ground floor where as the inpatient unit with 12 rooms, 2 general wards and 2 therapy theatres are located in the first and second floors of the same building.

Patients are admitted here and treatment is given under the direct care of a panel of doctors guided by Dr. A. Ramalingam and Dr. R. Sivakumar.

The hospital takes responsibility to treat Patients with serious health issues (decided by the doctors) only when a bystander (probably a close relative or friend) is available (this facility is provided only to patients in special rooms). This applies to Indian nationals as well as foreigners. So patients are requested to plan for one bystander well in advance and inform the same during reservation.

Here traditional therapies like panchakarma, thokkanam which includes therapeutic vomiting, therapeutic purgation, administration of enema and other purvakarma (pre operative procedures) like patrapinda svedam, jambeera pinda svedam, bandaging, physiotherapy and varma massage are done with in-depth understanding of tridoshic (mukkutram) and pancha bhutha theory, which are the base of Siddha and Ayurveda.

Based on the clinical picture of the patient he or she may be advised to stay for 10 days, 14 days, and 21 days. Sometimes he or she may be advised to stay for more days. Only after thorough clinical examination, the chief doctor will be able to decide about the number days needed.

While you are coming as Outpatient unit you get maximum 10 to 15 minutes to interact with the doctor. Most of the diseases are solved with OP treatment. Chronic diseases need IP treatment, for which the patients should get admitted. Physician would observe, use and change the medicines frequently to fit the need. Only by admission this is possible. More over detoxification is possible only in inpatient unit which needs thorough treatment plan and physician’s care. Respective doctors will be along-side the patient in the Inpatient unit all through the day and night. This is the significance of inpatient treatment over the OP treatment.

We have special rooms, deluxe rooms and wards. All the special rooms and deluxe rooms have air conditioners, television, water heater facilities. Mineral/herbal water is given to all inmates. All special rooms are single bedded along with couches for bystanders. All deluxe rooms are double bedded (for 2 patients) and a couch for one bystander. The rooms tariff are mentioned in service menu - information on treatment section. Standby generator facility is provided. Hospital has a security personnel however patients are advised to take care of their personal belongings and the hospital will not be responsible for any loss.

The hospital has a well structured dietary department. Patient specific less spicy, less oily, vegetarian diet is served to the rooms. There is also a canteen on the third floor adjacent yoga/meditation hall. The canteen provides vegetarian food for outsiders, patients, doctors and staff.

Kanji or Yavagu are easily digestible and carminative in nature. This can be given with solanum seeds, moongdal, etc. Kanji is contraindicated in diabetic patients because the starch increases blood sugar. Otherwise kanji along with moongdal is a very good food.

The patient is advised to drink pure, clean and warm potable water. In our hospital RO Water plant is installed and water dispensers are available in each floor for the convenience of the patients.

Spoon, towels, bed sheet, books for reading, ipod, laptop, all your medical case reports and all personal medicines.

Half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the night just for relaxing is okay. Sitting front of TV all the time pollutes the mind and we do not advise that.

Only one person can bystand the patient in special rooms. We do not charge anything extra for that. But, those persons who are accompanying the main patient or the bystander should bring bed sheet, etc., along with them.

The doctors will review the patients in the morning, noon and night and even in interval. If you call they will come.

There are 2 chief doctors and more than 4 assistant doctors and a resident medical officer available.

We take the case only after thorough clinical examination. Complete blood analysis, ECG, X- Ray, EEG, CT-Scan, MRI Scan, can be done. All blood / urine / stool test facilities are available within our hospital by the annexed laboratory in the OPD department in ground floor. If needed, if it is absolutely essential these tests are taken.

In order to understand the hidden pathology, investigations are useful. And in order to see the progress of the treatment, tests are repeated in intervals. By this, most appropriate treatments and medicines can be planned and the success rate becomes high in a short interval. At the same time we give high importance to concepts of Siddha and Ayurveda.

No. Siddha / Ayurveda is not a vegetarian system. It is a mixed system. So many non-vegetarian food and medicines are told in Siddha / Ayurveda. Vegetarianism has got lot of good qualities that is why we stress on that. In some of the diseases goat’s soup and fish are advised but in the campus only vegetarian is advised. We do not allow the patient to use the non-vegetarian food on the campus. Non vegetarian food increases fat in the body. In some cases non-vegetarian food as medicines is advised. People are not supposed to buy non vegetarian food from outside and eat in the campus.

You can always pray based upon your religious tradition inside the room. You should not hurt others. You should not compel others with your ideas.
